Brenda writes: “10 species in the trap today and the lunar underwings (7) took the lead. It was nice to see canary-shouldered thorn and another merveille du jour. I brought in a moth to check, which turned out to be a very deeply coloured beaded chestnut – making it difficult to see the diagonal ‘bead’ marking on the wing. These wing markings are completely different from the ‘ordinary’ chestnut.”
