The humble turnip

Brenda writes: “It is fascinating how the population in the moth trap varies from night to night. One moth that’s consistently there at the moment is the flame shoulder, but mostly just one per night. There are also nutmegs, between three and six. Then something will arrive that I haven’t seen for a while, on this occasion a brimstone and a lychnis. Meanwhile, in the numbers sweepstake in 3rd place was vines rustic (13) and in 2nd large yellow underwing (24). But today’s winner, at 27, is the humble turnip. We did have one new moth, the mouse, which is brown with three black dots on its forewing.”
